SHO KOSUGI: WEAPONS MASTER, WEAPONS DESIGNER

NINJA, SAMURAI, AND KOBUDO WEAPONS

I thought long and hard about how to properly present the multitude of  ninja,  samurai, and kobudo weapons  featured in so many of Sho's projects.
I initially considered presenting them in the order that they appeared in each project (film, TV show, etc...), but because so many of these same weapons appeared in numerous projects I ultimately decided that it would make more sense to try and keep the same weapons together as much as possible.

So, with that in mind, I've grouped similar weapons together into 6 categories:

   SWORDS and KNIVES
Any and all Japanese swords (Katana, Ninja-Tō, Shikomizue, etc...) and knife-life short swords and knives (Tantō, Kaiken, and Kozuka).

   STAFFS and SPEARS
Any and all stick-like or spear-like weapons from the long Bō and Yari to the short and small Tonfa, Shobō, and Kakushi.

   PROJECTILES and EXPLOSIVES
Any and all weapons that are thrown or fired in an offensive or defensive manner, or as a distraction, including Yumiya (bow & arrow), Shuriken (throwing stars),
and anything that is of an explosive nature or is fire-based.

   SICKLES and CHAINED WEAPONS
Any and all sickle-like weapons including the Kama and its forerunner the Kyoketsu-shōge, and any weapons that featured a chain (or a substitute like a rope),
including Kusari-gama (a Kama with a chain attached to it), the Kusari-Fundō (weighted chain), and the Nunchaku.

   PRONGED WEAPONS and FIGHTING FANS
Any and all hand-held close-quarter pronged weapons like the Sai, Nunte, and Jitte, and any metal and cloth folding fans (Tessen) used as close-quarter
 fighting weapons.

   CLAWS and CLIMBING TOOLS
Any and all climbing and/or fighting hand claws (Tekagi, Tekko-kagi, etc...) and spiked fists (Tekko, Tecchū), and any and all tools used for climbing.

Additionally, following this detailed weapon by weapon breakdown we will also look at 3 additional breakdowns:

   WEAPONS COLLECTIONS
All of the collections of weapons seen in pre-battle ceremonies, dojo walls, hidden boxes, carrying cases, secret caves, and other hideaways in Sho's various
 films and TV shows.

   WEAPONS BY PROJECTS
All of the weapons from Sho's projects listed and broken down into a number of summary tables.

   WEAPONS DEMONSTRATIONS
All of the known self-defense and weapons demonstrations that Sho did for martial arts magazine articles and photoshoots.

So, with that bit of information out of the way, let's get started with the first category of weapons, SWORDS and KNIVES...
